10 Unique Gifts For Any Traveler
Shopping for others can be so difficult sometimes, especially for people who seem to have everything. I thought that I might be able to save you some grief in searching for gifts this year, so I have compiled a list of easy, yet thoughtful gifts that just about any traveler would appreciate. These would make great gifts not just for Christmas but for any time of the year. Here they are, and if you have anything else you’d like to suggest, I’d love to hear from you!
A Terrimundi Money Pot This first gift is something that I was given a few years ago by a friend. I am still working away at it, as it's a gift that continues to give. The whole idea is that the recipient collects coins in this jar until it's full (the larger the denominations of coins, the more it will hold). What a great way to save for trips and to have extra money that you weren’t anticipating! You must smash it to retrieve the money, which sets it apart from other piggy banks. The money pots comes in all sorts of colours and designs, making it a great gift for anyone. Make sure to do some comparison shopping to find one that best suits your budget.
Here's a trick - when you're ready to open, use the back of a hammer to pry off the top so that you can reuse it later on as a flower pot or a decorative jar!
A Luggage Scale Before my most recent trip, I was given a luggage scale. Let me tell you, it has been an AMAZING life saver! Playing the guessing game, then holding your breath as your bags are weighed at the airport, isn't my idea of fun. This is the perfect way to know exactly how much the bags weigh before leaving the house.
Unique Luggage Tags Let's be honest, standing in front of a baggage carousel, staring at bag after bag passing by, is never a good time, especially when you are in a hurry, and you are searching for your luggage among a million bags that look exactly like yours. Give your loved one some unique luggage tags so that they can easily distinguish their bags from the others. There's such a wide variety of tags, so be sure to choose something unique for the person that you are shopping for, to show them that you pick up on little details - a favourite character, quote, object, or something else they'd love.
An International Travel Adapter This makes a wonderful gift for someone who has just started travelling but has not yet gone abroad. It is something that they can look forward to using as they anticipate their travels to another continent. It is a thoughtful way to support that dream. You can buy individual ones for each kind of outlet, but my favourite is the kind that transforms into all of them – an all in one adapter.
A Travel Water Bottle They always say that it's a fantastic idea to bring a water bottle with you when you're travelling. I can tell you firsthand that bringing a water bottle can be a lifesaver. Once you are through airport security, you can fill it up and bring it on the plane with you. There is nothing worse than being on a long journey with an unquenchable thirst. Not only is it a practical gift, it is also a little something that your loved one can take with them, which reminds them of you. They are easy to customize and there are so many different styles to choose from. They even have collapsible ones which are super cool and great for easy storage!
A Decent Pair Of Headphones When travelling solo, there's nothing better to pass the time than to to plug in some headphones and turn up the tunes for the journey.. For someone who hasn’t splurged on a nice pair for themselves, why don't you treat them to a quality pair of headphones? I was personally given a nice noise-cancelling pair, which I love and would recommend.
Compact Travel Toiletries There are a few ways of going about this idea; you could either purchase a prepacked bag from the store, containing mini versions of important supplies, or you could do it yourself, which is a little more fun. You can custom pick a nice toiletry bag then go shopping to fill it with travel-sized items – soap, shampoo, toothpaste, hand cream, razor, shaving cream etc. You could even go the extra mile and add in a few not-so-typical items just to make them feel extra special.
Itunes Gift Card Like I mentioned earlier, music can play such a significant role in travelling – especially when it comes to passing the time. Why don’t you help to expand the music playlist by giving a gift card that can be redeemed in music?
Gas Card It's plain and simple, but if the people you are shopping for do a lot of travelling via car, this is a super handy and appreciated gift. Gas is one of those necessities that always needs to be taken into account, so having some financial freedom in that department should be gladly received.
Money This is the one thing that literally every traveler will have a necessity for. Whether it is used for food, transportation or a souvenir, your loved one is guaranteed to be using money throughout their travels. The gift of money can be the most practical kind of present and in the end, you know that your gift will be used for something that your loved one truly wants.
So that’s my list – take it or leave it. What do you think? I want to hear your thoughts. Like I mentioned earlier, if you think I missed out on something important, I’d love to hear from you in the comments below!
